The award is given annually to the NHL player “who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”

This season, Oettinger continued his partnership with the Dallas Stars Foundation and HopeKids, a non-profit organization that provides ongoing events and activities and a powerful, unique support community for families with children facing cancer and other life-threatening medical conditions.
