Edmonton jumps out to a 1-0 series lead behind a game-winner from Connor McDavid.

The Dallas Stars let one slip away at home.

After Tyler Seguin tied things up near the end of regulation, Dallas and Edmonton kept things as close as possible through an entire overtime period. Connor McDavid was the Oilers’ Game 1 hero Thursday night, scoring a game-winner in double overtime to win 3-2.

- FINAL: Edmonton 3, Dallas 2 in 2OT. (Oilers lead series 1-0)

Connor McDavid ends it in the first few seconds of double overtime. He was on the correct end of an Evan Bouchard pass. The goal was briefly reviewed but it held up to end Game 1.

- End of first OT: We’ll get even more overtime at AAC.

Despite an early surge and power play opportunity, Dallas couldn’t finish things off in the first OT period. One of the game’s key plays will be a stop from Jake Oettinger, with some help from Chris Tanev. Dallas and Edmonton are tied at 2-2.

- 11:30 into OT: There’s not a lot to separate these teams up to this point. Edmonton is outshooting Dallas 35-30, but the Stars have consistently been on the attack in OT.

Stll tied up at 2-2.

- 3:17 into OT: The Stars are still looking to take advantage of the power play. Jason Robertson nearly ended it with a well-placed wrist shot, but it bounced off the post. Still tied at 2-2.

- 0:17 seconds into OT: Matt Duchene heads down the tunnel receiving a blow to the face. Connor McDavid was called for high sticking and received a double-minor. Dallas is on the power play.

- End of the third: To overtime we go.

Edmonton set the pace early in the third period, but couldn’t sustain that advantage. Tyler Seguin is on hatty watch after tying things up late. Edmonton is outshooting Dallas 29-24.

More hockey will take place at AAC.

- 16:37 into the third: Tyler Seguin. Again.

He scores his second goal of the game to tie things up as regulation winds down. The announced crowd of 18.532 is into it now. Game 1 is tied at 2-2.

- 8:47 into the third: The third period’s early minutes have been dominated by the visitors. Edmonton has gotten close to extending its lead, but has been turned away multiple times by Jake Oettinger.

The Oilers are now outshooting the Stars 23-19. Edmonton has also outshot Dallas 7-2 to start the period.

- End of second period: The Stars trail by one goal entering the third. The Jamie Benn-Tyler Seguin-Evgenii Dadonov line has been key for Dallas, generating much of the team’s scoring chances this period.

Before the intermission, Dallas was called for too many men on the ice to give Edmonton its first power play of the game. The Oilers will have the man advantage for another 43 seconds when the game resumes. Dallas trails 2-1.

- 17:21 into the second: Dallas is still looking to regain its early-game momentum. The Stars have found a few power play opportunities, but haven’t capitalized. On the other hand, Edmonton has succeeded on the penalty kill. That was one of the team’s strengths the entire season.

- 6:11 into the second: American Airlines Center comes alive once again.

After Jamie Benn capitalized on an errant Edmonton pass, he placed a clean pass in front of Tyler Seguin. The puck was located in a spot that was difficult to reach for Stuart Skinner.

Seguin finished the play off. Dallas now trails 2-1.

- 4:17 into the second: The Oilers strike again.

This time, Zach Hyman scored following a chaotic puck chase in front of Jake Oettinger’s goal. Chris Tanev tried breaking up an Edmonton pass, but Hyman was in the right place and right time. Oilers lead 2-0.

- 0:58 into the second: Edmonton strikes first.

Less than a minute into the second period, Leon Draisaitl finds the back of the net to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead. Brett Kulak shot first, seeing his attempt blocked by Esa Lindell. The friendly bounce landed in front of Draisaitl, who wasted no time capitalizing.

Draisaitl is now on a 13-game point streak.

- End of the first: The Stars had an edge for much of the first period, but Edmonton started to find its footing late. Warren Foegele led the Oilers’ most dangerous scoring opportunity, taking the puck away from Miro Heiskanen to create a one-on-one look with Jake Oettinger.

Oettinger came up with a key save to keep Edmonton off the board. Dallas is outshooting the Oilers 7-3. Game 1 is tied 0-0.

- 12:50 into the first: The Stars have controlled momentum for much of the game’s early portion. Dallas is outshooting Edmonton 4-1 and has generated five takeaways.

The home team has also set a physical tone with 10 hits.

- 7:09 into the first period: Dallas came out swinging to open Game 1. Esa Lindell recorded the Stars’ first shot on goal about 43 seconds into the game.

The game’s most dangerous look came from Evgenii Dadonov, who had a wrist shot saved by Edmonton’s Stuart Skinner. Dallas is on the power play after Evander Kane was sent to the box for roughing.

- The puck has dropped at American Airlines Center. Game 1 is underway.
