How to watch the Dallas Stars on Victory+ this season

All preseason games and 69 regular-season games will be available to stream for free on the Victory+ app and website.

The Dallas Stars have returned after a short summer with the team kicking off its six-game preseason schedule Saturday night at home against the St. Louis Blues.

After cutting ties with Bally Sports, the Stars will stream their own games for free on the new Victory+ app, which launched earlier this month. The app created by A Parent Media Co. Inc. is a first-of-its-kind service for in-market fans to watch live sports free of charge and direct-to-consumer.

All six of the Stars’ preseason games will be broadcast on Victory+ as well as 69 of their 82 regular-season games.

Here is how to access the new app and stream Stars games this season:

Why did the Stars pivot to Victory+?

The Stars partnered with A Parent Media Co. Inc. to create the app where they could broadcast their games to in-market fans for free.

The announcement to switch from Bally Sports to Victory+ came this summer on the heels of a challenging year for Bally after parent company Diamond Sports Group filed for bankruptcy in March 2023.

With uncertainty around how games would be broadcast this season, the Stars explored other options and ultimately settled on Victory+, agreeing to a seven year deal. They’ll generate revenue through APMC’s advertising model. The app was modeled off the one APMC created for Dude Perfect, a Frisco-based sports and comedy group, whose app launched about a year ago.

Who is considered in-market?

All Stars fans in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas will have access to watch the team’s preseason and regular-season games at no cost. Blackout restrictions will still apply for out-of-market fans, who can continue to watch the Stars on ESPN+ as they have in the past.

In the playoffs, the first round will be available both on Victory+ and through a national broadcast. All rounds beyond that are only available nationally. There are also 14 regular-season games that will be available nationally, one of which will be broadcasted side-by-side, both locally and nationally.

How can I download it?

Victory+ is currently available for download on all Roku, AppleiOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Google TV and web streaming devices.

You can download the app by typing “victoryplus” into the search bar of each device’s app store or by going to victoryplus.com.

Victory+ recently announced the app is coming soon on Vizio, Vidaa, LG, Samsung and AppleTV.

What do I need to do once downloading the app?

Upon downloading the Victory+ app or logging onto the website, you will be prompted to create a free account.

You will not need to upload any payment information, as the platform is free, and once you create an account, you will be able to stream Stars games beginning Saturday.

What else can I watch on Victory+?

In addition to live games and pre-game and post-game shows, the Victory+ app will be home to all Stars media content this season.

You can currently watch interviews with the coaches and players from training camp, season preview content, classic games and other featured videos of Dallas Stars players.

This season’s games will be available for rewatch for a limited time after the game’s conclusion.

Are other teams streaming their games on the app this season?

The Anaheim Ducks have also signed on to use Victory+ to stream their games this season. However, in-market Dallas Stars fans will not have access to these games.

APMC CEO Neil Gruninger said he remains in discussions with other teams but anticipates more deals to land ahead of next season.
