Report: Former LSU, Flower Mound Marcus linebacker Marcel Brooks transferring to TCU

The former five-star recruit played in 11 games for LSU last season as a freshman.

Marcel Brooks is moving a little closer to home. The former Flower Mound Marcus and LSU linebacker is transferring to TCU, according to a report by 247.

As a freshman last year at LSU, Brooks’ playing time was limited even though he played 11 games for the Tigers. Outside of his ability as a pass rusher, Brooks’ greatest strength is his versatility. Listed as a safety on LSU’s website, Brooks was recruited as an outside linebacker but has the capability to play either position, or line up as a pass rusher in certain situations.

This fall Brooks was likely to compete for a starting spot on LSU’s defense, but he announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on June 26. TCU was an early favorite from the start of his recruitment when the defender said he’d like to play closer to home. In his first collegiate season Brooks put up eight tackles, 1.5 sacks and three QB hurries.
