Meet TCU’s 2021 early enrollees already on campus, including four transfers and seven freshmen

TCU has just seven players in their 2021 class not on campus.

Despite having its season cut short due to COVID-19 concerns eliminating TCU’s chance to play in a bowl game, the Horned Frogs finished 2020 winning five of their last six games with momentum heading into the offseason.

TCU finished the season 6-4 and will lose some star players to the 2021 NFL draft, but Gary Patterson and his staff have put together an impressive recruiting class to fill in the gaps.

The class includes 14 signees (with two four-star recruits) and four transfers and is ranked 59th-best nationally by 247Sports.

Current quarterback Max Duggan occasionally leans more toward running the ball when lined up under center, while Honig is known for his accurate deep ball, something Duggan struggled with in 2020.

Honig is ranked as the 26th pro-style quarterback in the 2021 class, first in Germany.

He is enrolled as a health and fitness major and started classes on Tuesday.

Trent Battle, QB

Trent Battle, 6-1, 200- pounds, is also joining the quarterback unit. He is a dual-style quarterback with 10 rushing touchdowns and 21 passing touchdowns his senior season. He is ranked the 23rd best dual-threat quarterback in the 2021 class by 247Sports.com.

Chandler Morris, QB

Chandler Morris is another dual-threat quarterback added to the Frogs roster in 2021. Morris, an Oklahoma transfer, chose to enroll at TCU this Spring.  He is a product of Highland Park in Dallas and comes from a football family as his dad is former Arkansas head coach Chad Morris.

Morris shows great athleticism despite his smaller figure (5-11, 178 pounds). He was ranked the 18th best dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2020.

Samuel Jackson, QB

Samuel Jackson is the final quarterback who enrolled early from the 2021 class. Jackson is a four-star recruit who is explosive and has the ability to make plays. He has experience playing both quarterback and wide receiver so it will be interesting to see the ways that TCU utilizes him.

Noah Bolticoff, OG

Noah Bolticoff has an impressive 6-5, 265-pound figure that will be a difference maker on the TCU offensive line.  Bolticoff is an all around athlete as he played three sports in high school (football, basketball, and track and field). He is known for his ability to finish blocks with ease when the opportunity presents itself.

TJ Carter, CB

TJ Carter is a senior transfer cornerback from Memphis who played in 46 games at Memphis through four seasons and recorded one touchdown with seven interceptions. With TCU losing two of its best pass defenders to the 2021 NFL draft, Carter will make a great addition to the roster.

Obinna Eze, OT

Carter’s former teammate Obinna Eze is also joining the Frogs roster. Eze played four years at Memphis where he started every game the past two seasons. The 6-8, 315-pound Eze is an all-around athlete and exactly what the Frogs need along their offensive line.

DJ Rogers, TE

DJ Rogers was a highly recruited player from Washington with 34 offers. He originally committed to California but flipped to TCU on signing day. Rogers is known for his ability to get open downfield, who knows, could he be the next Jalen Reagor for TCU?
