TCU’s Damonic Williams started all 15 games last season at defensive tackle. In spring practice, he’s making the transition to defensive end.

Williams said the transition is going well. At first, he was nervous. After a few practices, Williams feels more comfortable.

“I’m excited to learn,” Williams said. “I’m very excited to be versatile.”

Williams isn’t a stranger to quick transitions on the football field. At the young age of 17, Williams made his debut as a Horned Frog against Colorado on September 2.

This time around, Williams isn’t a young rookie in the locker room. Even though he’s the same age as some of the incoming freshmen, Williams is an experienced veteran.

Williams, as a player who made an immediate impact, told the incoming freshmen that if he could succeed as a first-year, they could too. Williams said the Frogs will have depth in 2023 but added they’ll miss Dee Winters and Dylan Horton.

“I’m very excited to see who is going to step up,” Williams said.

Williams himself has an opportunity to make considerable strides and has a year of making plays in some of college football’s biggest games under his belt. What does 2023 have in store?
