Texas A&M’s Devon Achane, Bryce Foster listed as some of college football’s top ‘freaks’

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman put Achane and Foster on his list of athletic freaks for very different reasons.

The Texas A&M Aggies have no shortage of star players on its 2022 roster. Two of these players snagged a spot on The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman’s 2022 college football freaks list that he unveiled on Wednesday.

Starting off with junior running back Devon Achane, Feldman had nothing but good things to say about his athletism and speed. Mentioning his abilities both on the field and the track, it’s easy to see why Feldman put Achane on this list.

At 5-9 and weighing 185-pounds, Achane is a speedster like no other on the track. His 200-meter clocked in at 20.20 and he ran a 10.14 100 that currently sits as the 10th-fastest time in program history. He used this speed several times during the season, including on a 96-yard kickoff return. Boosted by an SEC preseason second-team selection, Achane will be a veteran on offense this year and is lined up to be the Aggies’ primary running back going into the 2022 season.

The second Aggie on Feldman’s list is none other than the former true-freshman Bryce Foster. “The Mountain” is a dual-sport athlete like his counterpart on the list.

Since his high school days, the sophomore has only grown stronger and bigger, now measuring 6-5 and 325-pounds. Not only is he a beast on the field, but he is an excellent shot-putter for the Texas A&M track and field team.

Feldman’s analysis mentioned his successes during his first season of shot-putting with his personal record sitting at 64′ 8.75″, which is the fifth best in program history.

Feldman continued by mentioning his teammate Achane who was the only other person other than Foster to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as “the only two NCAA football/track combination guys”.

The Katy, Texas native also was named to the Rimington Trophy Preseason Watch List going into the season after an outstanding freshman campaign. Coming off last season, he made the SEC All-Freshman Team as well as the FWAA and The Athletic Freshman All-America teams.

Having these two players on the field will make for one solid offense with Foster at center, assisting Achane as the lead rusher.

Defenses will need to look out for these two as they don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
