Texas A&M WR Chase Lane joins several other Aggies in transfer portal

Five players have recently announced their intentions to enter the portal.

Texas A&M wideout Chase Lane announced that he would be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with two years left of eligibility on Tuesday.

Lane joins a growing list of players that have chosen to move on from the program including, kicker Caden Davis, running back LJ Johnson, linebacker Ish Harris, and edge rushers Elijah Jeudy and Donnell Harris Jr.

Lane, a redshirt junior, appeared in eight games this season with five starts where he recorded seven receptions for 76 yards before an injury sidelined him for the last four games. During his career at A&M, he made 27 appearances where he hauled in 48 catches for 617 yards and two touchdowns. Lane was recruited as a three-star prospect out of Houston’s St. Pius X and was a part of A&M’s 2019 recruiting class that featured Isaiah Spiller and Jalen Wydermyer.

Meanwhile, Davis was the most recent player before Lane to enter the portal after he announced on Monday via Twitter. Davis appeared in all 12 games this season as he handled kickoff duties while Randy Bond handled PATs and field goals.

Donnell Harris Jr. was the first player to enter the transfer portal after announcing on Nov. 21 while Jeudy entered on Saturday after A&M’s win over LSU. Ish Harris and Johnson both released statements about transferring on Sunday. Ish Harris is the first player from A&M’s No. 1 2022 recruiting class to enter the transfer portal.

Jeudy appeared in two games this season while Donnell Harris Jr. and Ish Harris did not appear in any matchups. Johnson finished off his sophomore season at A&M with six games played where he had 10 rushing attempts for 39 yards.
