Texas A&M’s Jim Schlossnagle speaks after Aggie fans removed from CWS: ‘Don’t come back’

The game between Texas A&M and Florida started after 10 p.m. Saturday due to multiple hours of delays.

Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle had some choice words for two professed supporters after the Aggies’ College World Series win against Florida Saturday in Omaha.

“Don’t come back,” he said in the post-game press conference.

At the bottom of the second inning, the ESPN broadcast caught what appeared to be an Aggie fan yelling at the Florida dugout and then being escorted out by security along with another fan. Separate footage of the incident showed both fans shouting and one being pulled off the barrier by security.

As noted in the broadcast, the incident could have contributed to the outcome of a close play; at the same time, Florida declined to challenge a play at third base in which an A&M runner was called safe, loading the bases with just one out, though replay seemed to show that the runner was actually out. The Aggies took a 2-0 lead at the end of the inning, eventually winning 3-2.

“I want to apologize on behalf of Texas A&M for whatever the heck went on over there in that dugout,” Schlossnagle said in his opening statement to media. “Whoever those two guys are, they don’t represent what Texas A&M is all about.

“Let’s not let those two guys back in the ballpark.”

The Omaha Police Association and Omaha sports radio host Connor Happer separately alleged on social media that the hecklers had been shouting personal, offensive remarks at the dugout.

The game, originally slated to start at 6 p.m., was weather delayed over four hours and didn’t begin until after 10 p.m., finishing in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The Aggies now advance to face Kentucky Monday evening.
