Texas has finally signed Arch Manning, who is arguably the top quarterback in the current recruiting era. Manning’s expected arrival to the Forty Acres has brought Texas some exciting recruiting momentum, as Manning is considered to be one of the reasons why other 2023 recruits signed with Texas.
Here’s a look at where the Longhorns’ 2023 class currently stands. This article will be updated as players sign with schools.
Texas’ current class
Up to date as of 9:46 p.m. Thursday
No. of signees: 23
Current 247 Composite team ranking: No. 3
How the Longhorns measure up to the rest of the Big 12: No. 1
Best current signee: QB Arch Manning
Manning is undoubtedly one of the highest-touted prospects in the modern recruiting era, and he holds a near perfect 247 Composite rating of 0.9999. The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning is expected to make an early impact for the Texas quarterback room once he arrives to the Forty Acres.
Best under-the-radar signee: Edge Billy Walton
Walton was a key player in South Oak Cliff’s back-to-back state titles. He recorded 12 sacks as a junior and 18 as a senior. He could easily be a difference-maker for the Longhorns that could possibly fit different needs.
Best unsigned recruit they’re pursuing: WR DeAndre Moore
Moore has been committed to Louisville since May 31, but 247 Sports’ Mike Roach recently projected that Moore could be headed to Texas instead. The four-star California wide receiver took an official visit to Austin on Nov. 12 for Texas’ game against TCU.
Biggest remaining need: Linebacker
Texas’ best linebacker in recent years, DeMarvion Overshown, has exhausted his eligibility and is headed to the NFL draft. Current junior linebacker Jaylan Ford should have another solid season, but more depth can’t hurt. The additions of Anthony Hill, Liona Lefau and S’Maje Burrell will be great boosts to the team as Overshown makes his exit.
