Trio of Texas Tech football players to enter NCAA transfer portal

Texas Tech has now seen four offensive players enter the transfer portal since Friday.

Texas Tech freshman WR Ja’Lynn Polk, redshirt junior OL Will Farrar, and redshirt sophomore WR Caden Leggett have entered the NCAA transfer portal, per each player’s Twitter.

Of the three, Polk saw the most playing time in 2020 as a Red Raider. The freshman caught at least one pass in each of Tech’s ten games this season on the way to accumulating 28 receptions for 264 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Polk finished the season as Tech’s 4th leading receiver. The Red Raiders will now be without three of their top five wideouts in terms of receiving yards from last season.

With the departure of Farrar, the Red Raiders lose a piece of their offensive line and special team depth. Farrar was the primary backup for all three interior lineman positions as well as being on the field goal protection team. The redshirt junior saw action in all ten games this season, as well, which nearly doubles his career total of 11 games coming into the season.

Upon graduation from Tech in May, Farrar will become immediately eligible as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining.

Leggett primarily saw action as a member of the special teams unit. Offensively, the 6-foot wideout reeled in three catches in 2020 - good for a career-high. Throughout his time in Lubbock, Leggett caught a total of five passes for 23 yards. He will have three years of eligibility left.
