Texas Tech wing Terrence Shannon declares for NBA draft, doesn’t sign agent

Shannon becomes the fourth Red Raider in as many years to declare for the NBA draft as an underclassman.

Texas Tech wing Terrence Shannon has entered his name into the 2021 NBA draft without hiring an agent to preserve his collegiate eligibility, he announced Thursday afternoon via Twitter.

Shannon finished second on the team in 2020 with 12.9 points per game, a career-high. He also finished fourth in rebounding, fourth in assists, and second in steals.

The Chicago native vastly improved his shooting between his freshman and sophomore campaigns. His 35.7% shooting from beyond the arc was second on the team and 10 percentage points higher than the previous year.

The decision to not officially sign an agent will allow Shannon to visit showcases and receive feedback from NBA personnel to help inform his final decision. Until he signs an agent, he will be eligible to return to Texas Tech.
