The two superstars of the Kansas City Chiefs had a friendly bet over last Saturday’s Texas Tech-Cincinnati matchup, the alma maters of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Mahomes threw for more than 11,000 yards in three seasons leading the Red Raiders (2014-16), while Kelce (2008-12) was First Team All-Big East for Cincinnati in 2012.
Mahomes and Kelce’s wager over the weekend included both teams mascot heads, but in different contexts. If the Bearcats took down the Red Raiders, Mahomes would’ve had to wear the head of the Cincinnati mascot “Bearcat” for the entirety of his weekly press conference availability, Kelce said on the “New Heights” podcast.
But when the Red Raiders took down the Bearcats, 44-41, on Saturday, escaping as a Nathan Hawks’ game-tying field goal attempt went wide-right, Kelce had to wear the head of “Raider Red” on the podcast he hosts with his brother, Jason.
We’ve got a great show, but first Trav had to settle a bet with @PatrickMahomes

“Shoutout to the Texas Tech Red Raiders for getting the dub,” Travis Kelce said. “It was the first time the Bearcats played Tech, me and Pat wanted to have some fun with it. Bearcats, I need you guys next time, baby.”
