The Wings followed one of their most successful seasons since moving to Dallas with a very active offseason. First, they shocked the WNBA by replacing coach Vickie Johnson Sparks assistant Latricia Trammell despite the recent playoff run. The Wings followed that with plenty of trades.
They began by acquiring All-Star forward Natasha Howard and rights to 2020 Rookie of the Year Crystal Dangerfield from the New York Liberty, sending Kayla Thorton away. Dallas then sent Allisha Gray to the Atlanta Dream before acquiring Diamond DeShields from the Mercury in a massive four team swap.
The 2023 WNBA draft was equally eventful. The Wings selected Villanova supernova scorer Maddy Siegrist with the third overall pick and made a surprising trade with the Washington Mystics to land the No. 4 pick, Iowa State center Stephanie Soares.
The Wings will play two preseason games. The first one is at home Friday, May 5 vs. Chicago Sky at 7 p.m. CT, open exclusively to season-ticket members. They will then head to Indiana to play the Fever on Saturday, May 13 at 12 p.m. CT. The regular season debut will be on Saturday, May 20 vs. Atlanta Dream at 12 p.m. at College Park Center
