Watch: Wings’ Arike Ogunbowale drills 3-pointer to set WNBA All-Star Game scoring record

The Notre Dame product was named WNBA All-Star Game MVP for the second time in her career after her torrid performance.

Facing some of the nation’s top women’s basketball stars, Arike Ogunbowale made the most of her moment.

The Dallas Wings guard set the record for most points in a WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night, drilling a tough fourth-quarter 3-pointer to help Team WNBA amplify its lead. Despite a scoreless first half, Ogunbowale found a rhythm after the break and ended the third quarter with 21 points.

The game’s previous scoring record stood at 31 points, set by Seattle’s Jewell Loyd last year.

Ogunbowale, who wasn’t selected to represent the U.S. at the Paris Olympics, was key in helping Team WNBA take down Team USA 117-109. Ogunbowale finished the game with 34 points, going 10-for-20 from the field and 8-for-13 from beyond the arc.

The Notre Dame product was named WNBA All-Star Game MVP for the second time in her career after her torrid performance. The last time Ogunbowale received the distinction was in 2021, another instance where she faced Team USA as a member of the WNBA All-Star team.

Ogunbowale became one of four players to win multiple All-Star Game MVP honors. She also distributed the ball well, ending the game with six assists.
