Dallas Wings’ Arike Ogunbowale named to AP All-WNBA Second Team after record season

On Sunday it was announced that the Dallas Wings star guard Arike Ogunbowale was named to the Associated Press’ All-WNBA Second Team.

The second team honors follow Ogunbowale winning the WNBA All-Star Game MVP on Jul. 20.

It’s been a standout season for the Notre Dame graduate in her sixth season in the WNBA. Ogunbowale averaged 22.2 points per game in the 2024 regular season, which was second to the unanimous WNBA MVP A’ ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces who averaged 26.9 points per game in 2024. Ogunbowale also led the WNBA in steals and minutes played per game, as well as in free throw percentage.

Unfortunately, individual success for Ogunbowale didn’t translate to team success for the Dallas Wings this year, as they missed the WNBA Playoffs and had the second-to-worst record in the league of 9-31, only one game better than basement dwellers Los Angeles Sparks.

Along with the Aces’ Wilson, rookie sensation Caitlin Clark, Napheesa Collier, Breanna Stewart, and Alyssa Thomas were the other members of the AP’s All-WNBA First Team. Indiana Fever’s Clark was also named the unanimous Rookie of the Year.
