Even though it won't open until next summer, there's already buzz about Los Angeles' new museum dedicated to Mexican food.
Called LA Plaza Cocina, and located a few steps from where the city was founded in 1781, near Olvera Street and Union Station downtown, it will host exhibits and demonstrations, cooking classes and lectures, all in 2,500 square feet designed to feel like a Mexican home kitchen.
"We want to bring the feeling of being at home with the family to the space," says Jessica Ureña, the museum's development manager. "And it really will be that space. You'll be able to buy fresh tortillas there and learn about the history of corn and take a tortilla making class too."
Admission will be free and ... enough already. We're jealous. With our rich local history, culture and cuisine, where is the Mexican food museum of Dallas?
