Lake Highlands restaurant Bo Bo China is closed due to a lockout notice on the door, reports The Advocate. It isnât clear if the restaurant will remain closed permanently or will reopen, real estate agent Judy Gee said.
The business on Church Road in northeast Dallas, near the LBJ frontage road, has been selling Chinese food since 1977. It was a neighborhood staple in Lake Highlands, according to Dallas Morning News archives.
Thereâs another way to say that: âItâs old,â Gee said. The building needs some renovations.
The Lee family, who opened Bo Bo China in 1977, still owns the building on Church Road in Lake Highlands. They sold the restaurant to the Kim family in 2017.
The lockout means both families are hitting pause.
âItâs a good time to take a break and rethink the building,â Gee said.
Over the years, Bo Bo China was known for its great prices and devoted customers, former News critic Dotty Griffith wrote in one of several restaurant reviews in the 1990s and 2000s. She loved the âagreeably spicyâ Mongolian beef but found the garlic chicken bland.
The restaurant has had several other locations, including Bo Bo Chinas in Grapevine and in Duncanville.
Bo Bo China was at 10630 Church Road (off LBJ Freeway), Dallas.
