GARLAND -- Garland Lakeview Centennial's defense forced two critical turnovers to lead the team to a 20-10 win over the Wylie Pirates on Friday night.

Wylie's (3-2, 2-1 in 9-6A) fake punt attempt fell incomplete, and Lakeview Centennial went 37 yards on the ensuing drive to take a 20-3 lead with 3:10 remaining. Shawn Lawson finished off the possession with a four-yard score.

It was a defensive battle between the two teams, with just 354 total yards of offense in the game. Wylie's Sean Carter had an interception in the first half, while AJ Harris had one for Lakeview Centennial (4-2, 3-1).

On the ensuing kickoff, Jason Nwokedi ran it back 70 yards for the score, trimming the lead to 20-10, but Lakeview was able to recover the onside kick and run out the remainder of the clock. Jonathan Hester had 125 total yards in the game for Lakeview Centennial and hit Johnathan Whittle for a touchdown pass in the first half.
