Kelvin Jones threw for 272 yards, six passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown as Spruce defeated Samuell 64-7 for the Grove Bowl on Friday night at Pleasant Grove Stadium.
Spruce got off to a fast start, scoring on the first drive. Timad Cotton paved the way for Spruce (5-2, 1-2 District 6-5A) with six catches for 142 receiving yards and three touchdown catches.
Jaylon Warren would add two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, finishing the night with 20 Carries for 240 yards.
The Spruce defense would be too much in the second half, recording three takeaways, led by junior Dalan Arredondo. They made it tough for Samuell's offense all night, only allowing 148 total yards. Samuell's record drops to 2-4, and 1-1 in district.
