KELLER — Kelden Ryan threw for 266 yards with three touchdowns and finished as the leading rusher with 112 on the ground to help lead Keller Central (1-3, 1-0 District 4-6A) past Haltom (0-4, 0-1) 31-16 in a matchup at the Keller ISD Athletic Complex.
Ryan ran 51 yards for a touchdown and completed a 66-yard touchdown pass to Jaleel Johnson in the first quarter. Keller Central then opened the second half with an eight-play, 73-yard scoring drive. Ryan finished the series with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jaylon Hawkins to put Keller Central up 21-10.
Randy Ilunga answered for Haltom with two field goals, converting from 38 and 35 yards. Max Miranda’s 39-yard field goal gave Keller Central a 24-16 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Devin Hubbard recovered a fumble to set up Keller Central at the Haltom 37-yardline one minute into the final period. The short field set up Ryan’s five-yard touchdown pass to Hawkins for the final score of the night with 8:56 remaining.
Hawkins finished as the game’s leading receiver with 89 yards on six receptions. Jeramiah Sanders totaled 88 receiving yards on three catches to lead Haltom.
