A Dallas police officer was hospitalized after a driver rear-ended her squad car Friday morning while the officer was escorting a construction work crew.

Police were dispatched to the crash about 4:30 a.m. on northbound Interstate 35E at Royal Lane. The driver who hit the officer was questioned.
Police believe the driver was intoxicated, and investigators are waiting for blood test results, police said.
The officer, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital. Her condition was not released.
