Pete DeBoer, Dallas Stars still getting accustomed to late Stanley Cup playoff starts

Dallas also called up Riley Tufte ahead of Game 2 against the Minnesota Wild.

Stars coach Pete DeBoer admitted that getting used to the late starts in the series is an acquired taste.

“The late starts I’m still getting used to,” DeBoer said, “walking out of the rink at 2 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start. We typically see one a series.”

Instead, three of the first four games in the Stars-Wild series are scheduled for an 8:35 p.m. Saturday.

“8:50,” DeBoer said, offering a question. “Not that I’m sensitive.”

“You’re trying to get me fined,” DeBoer said. “It’s that line we walk between selling the game on TV and what we do. You hope the disadvantage of that – because it is a disadvantage, there’s no doubt about it – is that it evens out.”

Tufte recalled: The Stars have called up forward Riley Tufte from the Texas Stars, the team announced.

Tufte, 25 and a former first-round draft pick in 2016 from Coon Rapids, Minn., recorded 19 goals and 35 points in 63 games this past season. The 6-6, 230-pound Tufte has one goal in 13 games all-time with the Stars.
